New layout for my blog

I have just spend the entire evening changing the layout of my blog. I quite like the end result. I love the emphasis on the photos on the front page. The separate fields for each post give it a clean look, without getting too harsh because of the rounded corners. I am, however, considering going for the custom design upgrade of WordPress. This upgrade will give me freedom to play with the color palet of the theme I am using.

I’m curious about your opinion?

What do you think about the new layout? Is it any good or did you like the layout and navigation of the old theme better?
Does this color scheme work for you? Or is it worth investing the $30 per year in the custom design upgrade, so I can change the color scheme of my blog.

Please let me know what you think!
